The kids rocked the Spanish this week! I had to switch to english a few times to go over behavior expectations, but I am AMAZED at how hard they worked. They have been giving 100%- I'm sure they are totally exhausted. I am so impressed at how they always keep their eyes on me! It has been helping them to understand so much. Tell them to keep up the great work!

I will be speaking Spanish 100% of the time! They will be extra tired this wee, so please give them a lot of extra hugs and sleep! The kids will have to be detectives, and we will talk a lot about always having their eyes on me, since their ears don't know Spanish yet. They can also look at what their friends are doing, or look at the board to figure out what is going on.

We had an amazing first week! I am so proud of the kids.. It is always so exhausting to get used to a new schedule and start out the school year, and I am amazed at how great the kids are doing!
We learned a lot about being "bucket fillers" and being "HEROS" this week. This will be a theme throughout the school year.. We talked about how everyone has an invisible bucket, and when people are kind to them it fills up their (and your) bucket. When people are unkind, it dips into their bucket and makes them feel bad. People are unkind to others when their invisible bucket is empty and they feel bad themselves. We talked about ways to fill up someones bucket and make them and yourself feel good.
HEROS is new this year. It is a theme throughout the school, and will be throughout your child's time at Ada Vista. It is an acronym in Spanish that spells out HEROS. We had an overview of each part of being HEROS this week, and will spend a week digging deeper into each part of it for the next 6 weeks. Check out the link on the home page to learn more about it! Next week we will focus on being Honorable, or doing what you are supposed to even when the teacher is not watching.
They have had a lot of rules and places to remember, and have done an amazing job. I am so impressed at how they are able to sit at the group rug and keep their eyes on me! We are working a bit on being where you are supposed to be (for example, not looking at the turtle when we should be at group! :) ), but they are figuring it all out and learning like crazy! I am so so excited about how well they are doing!
